Before a custom portrait enters the hands of our artist, there is one important step: confirmation.
By this stage, we have already listened to your story, reviewed the photographs you shared, and translated the meaningful details into a clear artistic direction.
But understanding should never be one-sided.
Before painting begins, we invite you to review the key details with us. This gives you the opportunity to correct anything that may have been misunderstood and gives our artist the confidence to begin with a direction we both understand.
From Artist Brief to Customer Confirmation
The artist brief helps our team organise the information behind the portrait. Confirmation is the next step: it brings that understanding back to you.
We do not want an internal document to become the final interpretation of your story without your involvement. What seems like a small detail to someone else may carry deep meaning for you.
That is why we pause before painting and ask: Have we understood this correctly?

What We Ask You to Confirm
Every portrait is different, so the confirmation process is kept personal and focused.
Depending on the photographs and the piece being created, we may ask you to confirm:
· Which photograph should guide the main expression
· The angle or position you want us to preserve
· Important coat colours and distinctive markings
· Small features that are essential to recognition
· Details that should be softened, adjusted or excluded
· The name, initials or short engraving, where applicable
· The overall feeling you hope the finished portrait will carry
We do not ask you to make artistic decisions that belong to the artist. Instead, we ask you to confirm the personal facts and emotional priorities that only you can know.

Confirmation Protects What Matters to You
A custom portrait is not created from a generic idea of a dog or cat. It is created from a particular relationship.
That is why confirmation is a form of protection.
It protects an important marking from being overlooked. It prevents an unclear photograph from being interpreted too quickly. It allows a customer to explain that one expression feels more familiar than another.
Most importantly, it ensures that the portrait does not move forward based on an assumption.
Our purpose is not to promise that every visible detail will be copied mechanically. Hand-painted enamel is an art form, and the artist must still make thoughtful decisions about scale, colour and composition.
Confirmation protects the meaning of the portrait while leaving room for the artist’s hand.
What Happens When Something Is Unclear
Sometimes a photograph leaves a detail uncertain. The light may affect the colour of the coat, part of the face may be hidden, or two photographs may show slightly different expressions.
When this happens, we do not quietly choose on your behalf.
We pause and ask a focused question.
You may be able to clarify the detail in a few words, share another photograph, or tell us which version feels most true to your memory.
You do not need perfect photographs or professional language. You only need to tell us what you know and what matters to you. Our responsibility is to listen carefully and turn that information into a direction the artist can use.

Your Confirmation Gives Us Permission to Begin
Once the essential details are clear and you have confirmed the direction, the artist can begin painting.
This moment is quiet, but important.
It marks the transition from understanding to creation—from photographs, memories and conversation to the first painted line on enamel.
Because hand-painted enamel passes through multiple stages of painting and firing, clarity at the beginning gives the work a stronger and more respectful foundation.
Confirmation is not an extra obstacle placed between you and the finished piece. It is a shared pause that helps us move forward with care.
At JaneForYou, we believe that the customer should never feel separated from the story being entrusted to us.
Your story begins the portrait. Your confirmation allows us to carry it forward.
